Commanders Coach Accepts Responsibility for Keeping Jayden Daniels in Contest Before Significant Harm

Washington Commanders head coach Coach Quinn has admitted he bears some the blame for a major injury to the team’s quarterback, Jayden Daniels.

Details of the Harm and Situation

Jayden Daniels, who enjoyed among the best first-year performances in history last season, suffered a dislocated elbow joint in the Sunday loss to the Seahawks. Although Daniels passes with his right arm, the injury has placed his season in doubt. The injury was significant enough that the TV coverage avoided showing repeats and several athletes turned away as he was attended to by team doctors.

Criticism and Coach’s Response

Quinn came under scrutiny as many felt the rookie should not have been on the field in the first place. The incident occurred in the final period with the Washington trailing 38-7, making a comeback unlikely. It is typical in such circumstances for teams to put in their backup quarterback to avoid harm to their starter.

“I get that. I’ve been thinking about it constantly, too, and, man, I erred,” he said of his decision to keep Jayden in the game. “That is 100% my fault.”

Aftermath and Squad Outlook

Marcus Mariota will be the team’s starting quarterback from now on, but he will guide a roster in turmoil. After making the NFC championship game the prior year thanks to Daniels’s excellence, the team have faced difficulties currently. They also lost defensive back Lattimore (ACL tear) and wide receiver Luke McCaffrey (collarbone fracture) on Sunday, and have a number of other key players on the injury list. The Washington squad are three wins and six losses on the season, and it would require a huge turnaround for the club to reach the playoffs.
